Pink Macarons

2011/01/04

Ever since my trip to La Maison Du Chocolat in New York, I’ve been meaning to try to make my own at home. While I don’t have all the correct tools (electric mixer), these came out just the way I had imagined – with “feet” and all. Considering this was my first batch, I would say it was pretty successful. Especially since I was able to achieve the coveted “feet” on the macarons in the first try. If you are wondering what I mean by “feet”, it is in fact the bottom of the cookie that looks like little air bubbles.

I followed this recipe, except I added a bit of pink dye to achieve the colour. The only problem I had was the fact that I didn’t blend the almond flour enough, that’s why the top of my cookies are bumpy rather than smooth.

One thing I would definitely recommend is to use an electric mixer. I don’t own one (yet), so it took me and my boyfriend more than 30 minutes trying to beat the egg whites to the perfect consistency. Our arms were pretty sore by the end of this baking experience.

Note: all the images are taken by me, if you take them please link back to me. thanks

I tried making them before, ended up in a mess but I’m ready to try again.

You should definitely try again! The recipe that I used was pretty good, considering this was my first time and it came out alright.
Don’t forget to post pictures when you do try again!
